My Weekend Goal

This weekend, my goal is to rearrange three cabinets in my kitchen. I want to downsize the amount of pots, pans, and baking dishes to fit into one cabinet instead of two. Then I want to move my electronic kitchen items into another cabinet. Finally, I want to turn the last cabinet (that used to hold the electronics) into a creative area for the kids. I want to sew holders for crayons, markers, and color pencils. I want to have things in there that will allow the kids to be creative and use their imagination. I will post pictures when I am done.

Homemade Furniture Polish

Today, I was determine to find a homemade furniture polish that I liked. I looked at a couple. The first one I found was just olive oil and lemon juice but a large amount of each. The second one, I liked a lot better. Mix the juice of one lemon or 4 tablespoons of lemon juice, 3 tablespoons of water, and two teaspoons of olive oil in a spray bottle. Spray on wood surface then wipe with a cotton cloth. This makes a small batch. You don't want to make a large batch because the olive oil will turn bad within a short period of time. I like the light lemon smell

Homemade Home By Amanda Blake Soule

I have already blogged about this book before but there are little tips with different sewing projects. I believe that these tips can be easily found on the internet.

All-Purpose Spray
She gives a recipe for about a half gallon mixture but I make small batches in use in a 24 oz spray bottle.
Here is my recipe
2 cups water
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
Then I add 20 drops of lavender oil for a lovely scent

Decoupage Glue
Equal parts of white glue and water. Add more glue or water as needed to create a smooth, paintlike consistency.

Recycling
need to know where to recycle something go to Earth911.com

Ironing Starch
1 Tablespoon cornstarch
1 pint of water
1/2 teaspoon vinegar
Dissolve the cornstarch in water. Put the solution inside a spray bottle and shake it throughly before using.
